Happy is a yuppie word, alright

I don't want to jinx it, but yesterday encapsulated EVERYTHING I've ever wanted a school day to be like.
Still giddy.

And the quintessential background music?
Dare You To Move, Vitamin String Quartet cover.
REDEMPTION.
I think I'm going to go expend all this happy energy in Australia with the kangaroos.
Laterr.

Oh joy, it's Valentine's

Yeah I'm sorry too but sorry ain't cutting it

I feel violated by those saccharinely sweet greeting cards, redundant red roses and pink balloons. Hallmark must have had a gala time today. Also, I think my iTunes knows that it's Valentine's or something. Creepily enough, it's playing songs with cheesy-ass buzzwords.
Oh did I mention, I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY. Thank the gods[not you, Cupid] that it's over.
Until next year, peeps. For now, it's Valentine's Day by Linkin Park on repeat...

And if the summer holds a song we might sing forever, then the winter holds a bite we’d never felt before.

But time is like the ocean
You can only hold a little in your hands
So swim before we're broken
Before our bones become
Black coral on the sand

Figgy pudding, anyone?

Our modest Christmas tree ^

Before you criticize, coniferous trees hold mountainous soil together. Ripping them out like ruthless Vikings makes for landslides aka PEOPLE DYING.
So, please.

Also:
MERRY CHRISTMAS, FOLKS!

No "turkey dinner" for us, we had to make do with brethren of the turkey- duck.
A la 'The Monk' in Gurgaon. Tip: Get there before 1 pm -.-
Then after being thoroughly stuffed (as per the universal festive tradition, right?), I got my hands on the SIXTH PERCY JACKSON INSTALLMENT. Yes, you read right. :D
And finally, a cup of toffee-apple-esque latte.
:)

International Suit Up Day

'Cause nothing suits the undisputed, oft-saluted suitor of repute like a... wait for it...

You move slow like daytime drama, you do.

I've been feeling UBER sluggish lately. Hence the lack of new posts.
Do I have to get into work mode again?
DO I REALLY? :|

I will get a truckload of work done.
Nada.
I will wake up early.
Nada.
I will multi-task.
Nada.
I will not get distracted.
MAJOR NADA.

I can't believe it's been nearly a week since I haven't even stepped out of the house! I mean, not even my terrace! I've been boarding up the windows with cushions.
TOO MUCH SUNLIGHT.
* shrivels and turns to dust a la vampire *
Not that I'm much of a winter person, though. Can't we just have some temperate, mild weather? Would it kill the sun to just dial back on the shiny-ness?

Oh and 10.10.10 :)

Akiko

Akiko was an autumn child. It was always the same for her when autumn finally came around. Every afternoon when the sky was ruby-tinged and the breeze blew just the right way; she’d settle herself under a canopy of copper leaves with a warm, comforting mug of apple cider. She’d inhale the silvery scent of hawthorn blossoms, abundant with plump, poisonous berries. She’d yearn to pick them from their snug little boughs at the mere thought of their juicy redness dying her tongue scarlet just as autumn enveloped the apple orchards in crimson fruit. Her almost unnaturally auburn hair would blend with the woods as they donned a cloak of chestnut and terracotta. Her rosebud lips would stain the periwinkle sea cochineal. She would meticulously rake every last leaf on the ground into a neat heap only to jump into her perfect pile. Scattered leaves floated to the ground in a vermillion ballet, as she’d sing a mellifluous tune for them…

Her voice cracked as she softly spoke the last word. The creases in her forehead eased out as she saw the tranquil expression on her daughter’s face. It was time.

Akiko’s coffin slid into the oven. Eighty minutes later, on a ceramic platform lay her bones. With a pair of chopsticks, her mother daintily picked them up and placed them in a delicately painted urn. Lastly, she carefully laid a charred autumn leaf inside.

For Akiko was an autumn child and always would be.
